Where fancy fonts work in Discord
Discord renders Unicode, so styled text works in your global username, per-server nickname, custom status, channel names and ordinary messages. It won’t combine with Discord’s own **markdown** (bold, italics, code) — those act on plain letters, while these styles replace the letters themselves. For emphasis inside a message, Discord markdown is cleaner and searchable; reach for these Unicode styles in nicknames, statuses and anywhere markdown isn’t available.
Frequently asked questions
Does Discord support these fonts?+
Yes — Discord renders Unicode, so these styles work in your username, server nickname, custom status, channel names and messages.
Why does bold markdown look different from a bold font?+
Discord’s **bold** and *italic* markdown restyle normal letters and only work inside messages. These Unicode styles replace the letters themselves, so they also work in nicknames and statuses where markdown isn’t available.
Can I use a fancy font in my Discord username?+
Yes, both the global username and per-server nickname accept Unicode styles. Keep them short and legible so people can still mention you.
